Outdoors And Recreation
There's a lot of water and coastline in Indian River County so water sports are an obvious choice for outdoor fun. There are also several places to fish, sunbathe at the beach or take in other water sports.
Sebastian Inlet
Sebastian Inlet State Park is a popular place for camping, fishing and viewing the local wildlife. The park spans both sides of the Sebastian Inlet with jetties on both sides and a catwalk under the bridge for fishing. There is a boat ramp on the south side and beach access on both sides.
On the Indian River Lagoon across from Sebastian you'll find Pelican Island home to thousands of herons, egrets, pelicans, ibises, and spoonbills. Hiking off Jungle Trail is a great way to see the local wildlife and birding areas around Pelican Island, though Pelican Island is restricted from access and is over a quarter mile from the nearest viewing area.
